Product Overview & Area of Application
The AQMOS R2D2-72 water softening system with connection set is a compact softening system in a cabinet housing for households with typical use by 2 to 7 people. It reduces water hardness in the drinking water range and thereby helps to reduce limescale deposits on fittings, pipes, household appliances, and water heaters.
This variant combines the R2D2-72 with a 1" connection set. It is particularly suitable for larger households, single-family homes with increased water demand, or smaller residential units where the connection components are already planned to match the installation.
Technology & Equipment
The AQMOS R2D2-72 operates on the ion exchange principle. Calcium and magnesium ions, which are largely responsible for limescale formation, are reduced in the softening resin, so that the water is carried into the house installation with lower hardness after the system.
The volume-controlled BNT 1650 control valve records the actual water consumption and controls regeneration automatically. The system is microprocessor-controlled and designed for needs-based salt and water consumption during each regeneration.
Everyday Benefits
Softer water can reduce the cleaning effort on fittings, shower surfaces, and household appliances. At the same time, softening supports a lower-limescale operation of water-bearing appliances such as washing machines, dishwashers, kettles, or water heating.
Thanks to automatic regeneration, the system operates largely independently during normal operation. For the operator, the focus is primarily on monitoring the salt supply, setting the residual hardness correctly, and performing regular functional checks.
System Integration & Compatibility
The R2D2-72 is integrated into the cold water line of the household water installation. Installation typically takes place after the water meter, water filter, and, if applicable, pressure reducer, so that the system is protected from contamination and operated within the permissible pressure range.
This version includes a 1" connection set, but no mounting block. It is therefore particularly useful when existing shut-off valves are used or when the mounting block is planned separately to suit the installation.

Installation
Installation is carried out in the household water supply system downstream of the water meter, water filter and, if applicable, pressure reducer. Connection should be performed by qualified personnel to ensure that flow direction, pressure range, tightness, wastewater routing and electrical supply are correctly checked.
For installation, a frost-free and dry location, a power connection in the immediate vicinity, and a drain connection for regeneration water are required. The wastewater and overflow hoses must be routed separately and with backflow protection to the drain connection.
Notes
The system is intended exclusively for the drinking water sector and for reducing water hardness. For operation, regeneration salt tablets made of high-purity vacuum salt according to DIN 19604 or DIN EN 973 Type A must be used.
The residual hardness should be set during commissioning to match the local water quality. For drinking water installations, complete softening to 0 °dH is not recommended; the water hardness should be adjusted via blending.
