The GEMA MDC 230 Bundle Module + Heating Rod TEHP3 combines an MDC 230 heating module with a matching 3.0 kW electric heating rod for use in central heating systems. The system serves to provide additional heating of heating water and can supplement existing heat generators in the heating circuit.
The bundle is suitable for open or closed central heating systems with professionally designed safety equipment. With appropriate system control, it can also be used to utilize surplus PV electricity as heat in the heating circuit.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 module forms the hydraulic part of the bundle. It features a steel tank, 50 mm thick polyurethane thermal insulation, a heating circuit connection with female thread G 1 1/4, and a sleeve for the electric heating cartridge with female thread G 1 1/2.
The TEHP3 heating rod corresponds to the WPI-3.0 version with 3.0 kW power, 390 mm installation length, integrated temperature controller, safety temperature limiter, protection class IP54, and sheath material Incoloy 825.

The bundle offers a clearly coordinated combination of heating module and electric heating rod. This gives the operator a compact additional heat source for heating water without having to match the module and heating rod individually.
The 230 V version is particularly relevant when a 230 V application is intended. The actual electrical connection, protection, and control must always match the system and be professionally checked.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 module is integrated into the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. Operation requires a fully filled and vented system, sufficient minimum flow rate, and a suitable circulation pump.
For the 3.0 kW version, a minimum flow rate of 171 l/h is required. This corresponds to approximately 2.85 l/min. In addition, a functional safety valve with the appropriate opening pressure is required.

Installation
The heating module is hydraulically integrated into the parallel heating circuit. The pipe routing must allow for complete filling and safe venting. An additional circulation pump must be provided for operation to ensure the required minimum flow rate.
Installation, electrical connection, protection, line sizing, and commissioning may only be carried out by appropriately qualified specialists. The electrical supply may only be activated after the system has been completely filled, vented, and tested.
Notes
Dry running must be avoided. The heating rod and heating module may only be operated after the water filling, venting, tightness, safety valve, circulation pump, and electrical protective measures have been professionally checked.
The housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated. Sizing, protection, and integration do not replace proper system planning.
