The MDC 230 Bundle Module + Heating Rod WEHP2230 combines an MDC 230 heating module for central heating systems with a matching 2.0 kW heating rod for 230 V. The bundle is intended for supplementary heat input into the heating circuit and is aimed at systems where electric supplementary heating is to be integrated cleanly into the existing heating system.
It is designed for use in open or closed central heating systems with appropriate safety devices. Typical applications include supplementary heating, frost protection support, emergency heat support, or the use of surplus electricity to add extra heat to the heating circuit.
Technology & Equipment
The MDC 230 module forms the hydraulic base body of the bundle. It features a steel tank with 50 mm polyurethane foam thermal insulation, a heating circuit connection with 1 1/4 inch female thread, and a heating cartridge connection with 1 1/2 inch female thread.
The heating rod WEHP2230 included in the bundle is designed as a 2.0 kW version for 230 V. It is based on the MB 2000 OWR1/230V design, has a 1 1/2 inch thread, an installation length of 385 mm, an integrated thermostat, and IP44 protection rating.

The bundle simplifies selection because the module and heating rod are already listed as a technically matched combination. Operators thus receive a clearly assignable solution for additional heat in the heating circuit without having to coordinate the module and heating cartridge separately.
Thanks to the 230 V version, the bundle is particularly suitable for applications with moderate electric heating output. Temperature control is handled by the heating rod's integrated thermostat.
System Integration & Compatibility
The MDC 230 heating module is integrated into the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return line of the main heat source. The module is designed for water or a suitable glycol mixture up to a maximum concentration of 50%.
For operation, the minimum flow rate must be ensured. At 2.0 kW heating output, this is 114 l/h or 1.9 l/min. An additional circulation pump and a functional safety valve must be included in the system design by the installer.

Installation
The hydraulic connection is made in the parallel heating circuit on the flow or return of the main heat source. The pipe routing must allow complete filling and safe venting.
Installation, electrical connection, protection, and commissioning are tasks for qualified professionals. Before switching on, the module and system must be completely filled and vented. The additional circulation pump must be sized and integrated so that the required minimum flow rate is achieved.
Notes
The heating rod must not be operated dry. The housing of the heating cartridge must not be covered or thermally insulated. A functioning safety valve is required; no shut-off valves may be installed between the safety valve and the heating module.
The bundle does not replace proper system planning, heat load calculation, hydraulic design, or electrical testing. The suitability for the specific system must be professionally verified before installation and commissioning.
