The high-efficiency CALEFFI HED® air vent removes up to 99% of the air contained in the heat transfer fluid during the first flow. This allows systems to operate with virtually air-free water under optimal conditions, significantly reducing noise, corrosion, and mechanical problems.
The air vent was specifically developed for use in heat pump systems and heating systems and is patent pending. It can be installed in horizontal and vertical pipes as well as with axially rotatable connections.
The CALEFFI HED® housing is made of PA66G30, the float of PP. The guide rod and float rod are made of brass (EN 12164 C).W614N) manufactured, float lever and spring made of stainless steel (EN 10270-3/AISI 302). Seals are made of EPDM.
Water is used as the working medium; the maximum operating pressure and the maximum discharge pressure are both 3 bar. The permissible operating temperature range is between 0 and 90 °C, making the air vent suitable for common heating and heat pump conditions.
Available are 1" IG (ISO 228-1) and 1 1/4" IG (ISO 228-1) versions with O-ring. The drain spout is equipped with a hygroscopic cover, which enables safe and low-condensation drainage.
The supplied insulation consists of PPE with a density of 38 g/l. The thermal conductivity at 10 °C is 0.039 W/(m·K) and the vapor diffusion resistance factor is ≥ 39,700, which ensures high thermal insulation and vapor barrier properties.
The special arrangement of the connections creates a downward rotary motion of the heat transfer medium from the upper to the lower connection. A calm zone forms in the center of the body, where microbubbles collect and are forced against the outer wall.
Thanks to the patented internal design, air rises in the central area and collects in the float chamber. There, it is captured by the float mechanism and released in a controlled manner into the outside air.
The maximum flow rate at which the CALEFFI HED® ensures its highest performance is 3 m³/h. At lower flow rates, the air vent can be selected according to the pipe diameter to guarantee optimal air separation.
The use of the high-efficiency air vent reduces operating noise, minimizes corrosion risks, and prevents malfunctions. Its high separation efficiency improves the overall efficiency and lifespan of the system.
Flexibility in installation (horizontal, vertical, rotatable connections) and robust materials make the device reliable in various applications of heating and heat pump technology.
The air vent can be installed in various pipe orientations; accessibility to the float chamber and drain port should be ensured for maintenance and visual inspections. Observe the specified pressure and temperature limits.
Versions for copper pipes are available as part numbers 551602 and 551603; for steel pipes, parts 551606, 551607, and 551617 are available. Select the appropriate version according to the pipe material and dimensions.
